For X2, XPAK, Xenpak Modules |
||||||||||||||
The NetLogic Microsystems Puma AEL2003 device is the industry’s first dual EDC-PHY CMOS physical layer repeater for use in 10GBASE-LRM XFP optical modules. Its supports data speeds of 10.3125 Gbps and 10.51875 Gbps respectively on the serial line and system interface while allowing flexible connectivity with a XFI compliant host ASIC or MAC through the system interface. The first of its kind, the AEL2003 device makes use of Aeluros’ patent-pending high-density EDC PHY technology to offer an attractive combination of best in class jitter performance and low power consumption with substantial area savings compared to multi-chip 10 GBASE-LRM XFP modules. The AEL2003 has dual CDRs – one for the transmit channel and one for the receive channel. It also includes a programmable equalizer on the receive XFI system side interface. The high level of integration achieved by the AEL2003 reduces the number of components in 10 GBASE-LRM XFP optical modules and facilitates low cost solutions for multi-mode fiber applications.
