The NLS2008 NETL7™ knowledge-based processor sets a new performance benchmark in being industry’s first fast-path content processor with unmatched determinism at ultra-low latency. Using NetLogic Microsystems’ revolutionary full-custom 3rd generation Intelligent Fabric for Automata (IFA)-based content processing engine, the single-chip NLS2008 Layer 7 knowledge-based processor can support cross-packet matching on up to 96 million simultaneous network flows, with up to 120Gbps of deterministic, stateful Layer 7 content processing performance. Performance is maintained even with complex signature databases containing hundreds of thousands of rules, including wild cards and regular expressions.
The NLS2008 product family eliminates the performance bottlenecks of alternative CPU-based or ASIC approaches that rely on external rule memory, while reducing chip count, board space, and power.
The unique 6-way superscalar architecture allows the processor to simultaneously execute Perl-Compatible Regular Expressions (PCRE) for up to six independent applications, without affecting determinism or latency.
With a common API across the entire NETL7 product portfolio, customers can migrate and tune their designs to match application requirements, while supporting the largest and most complex IPS/IDS, AV, and application/protocol detection databases.
